Hey guys, this week was another good one. Giacomo is the man, and we set a baptismal date with him on Monday for the 17th of March. He goes to Milan next Wednesday and then he'l get back on the 13th. We meet with him pretty much every day, and yesterday, we went to his house and he gave us each a really nice letter about how we're helping him change his life. He's a stud! Then on Friday, we had to go back to terni to do splits with the missionaries there becasue they had too many appointments and only 2 missionaries, so, we went up to help them, and it was a great experience, 2 new baptismal dates were set and a third was confirmed as well. On sunday, we had a few appointments and Giada set a new baptismal date, but, its a little ify right now, we'll see. Then on monday and tuesday of this week we were supposed to go and see 2 different people about 2 hours away from home and one of these people's house didnt exist and the other gave us bad directions, so, we weren't able to go to either. Today was a lot of fun though, we went with 5 other missionaries to play basketball and then we went to Ikea to get food. Not much else to talk about, the work is going good, we jsut need to continue working and we'll see baptisms.
Love you tutti, ciao

Tuesday was a better day, full of preparations for the special conference. we had to get the food and the chapel ready. At 10 we had to go to the airport with the assistants and pick up the missionaries coming in from sardegna. they slept at our place and
yesterday morning we got up and the zone leaders of napoli, sardegna and us had a meeting with Elder Texiera. IT was really cool. We talked about the importance of missionary exchanges. Then the conference was amazing. The Texieras were explaining to us that it is very very rare that a member of the 70 returns to the same mission twice to do a mission tour in a year or even 2 years. They said that they did not do what they were supposed to do, and the Lord sent them back to us to finish what we didnt learn or feel the last conference. They brought a huge spirit with them and it was really great. We talked for the majority of our time about our average of new investigators a week as a misison. which is 1.1. The last time they came, it was 0.5. They were happy with us that as a mission, we've been able to get this number doubled in less than a year. But they also really exhorted ussaying we are way below our potential. When he said that, i really knew what he was talking about. so often, missionaries just go through the motions, serve their 2 years and go home, and act like they were the greatest missionary ever. But if a missionary really cares and loves his Savior and brothers and sisters, he will work and really put his heart and mind into this work. If he does this, baptisms will increase. It was really a cool experience translating for him too. Anziano Packer did the morning translation and i did the afternon half. And he told us many other things, especially about the importance of asking for referrals. A missionary can get so many referrals if he just knows how to. the last thing he said that i thought was really cool, was he said, when you get off your missions, and you start to date, never go out with someone thatyou can imagine marrying in the temple.

well, thats all the time i've got for today, love you all, ciao ciao

buon giorno!
sorry i didnt write yesterday, we were super busy and we didnt have time, and so, thats why im writing right now. Anyways, this last week was sweet! We had zone leader council at the end of last week and it went really well. We talked about a lot of good stuff for the mission, and we also got a really nice surprise. Next thursday, Elder Texiera from the 70 is coming to do another tour here in our mission. so that will be sweet. Im really excited b/c we'll have the Napoli and Sardegna zones come up to Rome for it. then nothing too interersting happened last week, but, on monday, after District meeting, my companion had the idea of going to a chinese restaurant to eat, and it was a buffet, so, we went with the sisters and ate a ton of food, but, i didnt really like it, so i just ate a lot of gelato. I also had the wonderful experience of eating a snail. I figured, i've never done it, and so, i ate it, and it was really gross as you could imagine. We also managed toset a baptismal date with one of our Filipino investigators, and he's a stud! His family is back in the Filipines and he agreed to be baptised. It's great, there are a ton of people from the Filipines here in rome, and they're so great to talk with. I'm also learning Tagolog, their langauge. I now know how to say a grand total of 2 words. I can say you're beautiful and you're handsome. So that's basically how i start my conversations with the filipinos. Its awesome!
then yesterday for our P-day, we went to Ostia Antica. Its basically just a really old and ancient part of rome, and it was pretty cool.
Last bit of news, our most progressing investigator Giacamo is doing awesome. Today he called us up and he told us he wanted to meet,so, we met up and we talked for a bit, and he got adeal with MTV to do somthing for them, so, he's really excited about that, and he really loves the church, he fells like this is the true church if Christ, and he'll definitely get baptized in the next month or 2. it stunk becasue this week it snowed again and barely anyone came tpo church again, unforunately. A lot of other stuff happened too this week, but, i dont feel like writing much more, but, it was great.
I Love you! Have a sweet rest of the week!

I dont know where to begin with this weeks letter. So much has happened. I guess i'll just go through what's written in my planner. Last thursday, we met with one of our members from the Congo, and we had a great appointment with him, and we talked a lot about missionary work and we gave him an activity to do. We told him to write a list of all of his friends and families on a piece of paper and pray for them every day for 3 weeks, and at the end of the 3 weeks, he'll know that at least 1 of these people will be ready to accept the gospel. it was sweet, we actually have done this with a few other member families and we're very excited about the results. Then on the same day, sister Kelly called us and basically told us that the weather was about to get much worse and since we didnt have a heater or any hot water, she told us to come and sleep at the mission home. So, we went and she spoiled the heck out of us with food and everything. Then on friday, i got my first hot shower in rome, its was really nice. It also snowed on friday, not too bad, but a ton for rome, i think it was about a foot, but as it was snowing, we were going to an appointment, and we saw a huge line of cars trying to get up a hill, and they couldnt do it, so, we decided to help out. So, for about 2 and a half hours, we were pushing these cars up this big hill, and it was freezing at the begining, and at the end, we were sweating and beat tired. It was cool though, because we gaVe away a lot of pass along cards and english class flyers. Then, for the next 2 days, rome shut down. People weren't leaving their houses, transportion wasnt working, it was crazy. It was a lot of overexaggeration by many people, even in church on sunday, there were 12 missionaries and only like 10 members, it was pathetic, but, it was nice experience. during this time we stayed at the older missionary couple's house becasue we couldnt get to the mission home. We also set a baptismal date with a girl on Saturday, and that was a huge step for her, and we've met a lot of really cool other people too, so we have a lot of potential. Also, the biggest news of the week, Forster got baptized!!!! I was so happy to hear it, it just stink really bad that i couldnt see it. Its happened quite a few times now that we have a stud investigator getting baptised, and then i get transfered, but, we'll get work done here too.

Our zone seems to be doing better as well. We're setting a weekly goal to give to the missionaries in our zone every week to try to get the missionaries excited and focused, and this last week we set the goal for 2 new investigators for each companionship and we didnt get it, but, we were somewhat close. But, we improved a ton. We went from 6 last week to 15 this week. The other numbers are growing as well.

So, we were working really hard to reach this goal, becasue if we were setting it, we need to be the example and reach it. So, we were pushing hard every day and we did so mcuh work, and Saturday we had 5 appointments set up, and all of them cancelled because of the snoe, but the Lord answered our prayers, because on saturday evening, this member from the Congo that we met earlier, called us and told us that he wanted to see us sunday evening with his friends. So, we went and we taught 5 of his friends and we set up another appointment, and we got 4 new investigators and these people are awesome. So., that was a great little miracle that we saw this week, and things are getting better every day. I better stop writing, i have to fill out a survey frim the church, but, this week was good, and we had a lot of awesome snowball fights, have a good one! love you all

Alright, its great livig here in Rome, it really is a beautiful city and full of incredible people. The only downside of living here is a lack of a functioning waterheater. So, we havent had the shower for a week. But, we do boil water on our stove to get warm water to take baths/showers.... One thing that is really sweet is the amount of missionaries serving here in Rome. There's 10 Elders and 8 sisters, and 6 others in citys surrounding Rome. So we're in a big zone. Its cool, becasue my companion is the other zone leader and it makes things much easier for planning and getting things organized. The work suprisingly is not doing very good here though. You would thik that in Rome with the temple coming, things would be exploding right now... things will change. Basically, President said to me and my companion that we can do whatever we feel is necessary to to help the missionaries here get things rolling again. I'm stoked, its gunna be a lot of fun.

Probably the highligh of this past week was sunday. As you all know, 2 septembers ago, i arrived in the greatest city ever, TERNI!!! And on sunday, while we were in church, right as sacrament was about to start, i saw a familiar face. It was little Silvia! I probably didnt controll myself as well as i should've, but i was so excited and happy to see her. She's doing good though and her family too. Then, after church ended, we took a train to Terni. The reasoning behind it was becasue there was a baptism that my companion was a part of, and he wanted to go and see it. So, we got to Terni, and it was really sweet seeing everything the same as it was when i left it a year ago. We went to church and we helped get ready for the baptism, and then another huge surprise, Antonella showed up. It was so cool to see her, shes grown so much spiritually and shes doing great. Then it was good to see the members again. It brought back a lot of memories. It was really cool that they all remembered me too. Anyways, it was special.

Then, other than that, not much happened. But, somthing that is asweome is that the temple is in our boundries. Rome is split up into 4 parts, becasue there are 4 wards here, and the temple is in our part. We also have the most missionaries in our ward than any other ward. Its us, the assistants, the sisters, President and Sister Kelly, and 4 office missionaries. Its way diiferent for me, becasue all of my cities up until now have been small and its just been me and my companion, but its way different here. But, its great.

Well, im excited to help get things going, and get this city ready for the temple.

Ciao love you guys
