Okay, a pretty abnormal week again. obvously, nothing going on with the work right now, but, i fell thats going to change very quickly. So, friday, president called me and said that Anziano Gibson needed to go to Rome because he wasnt sure aboutt the knee and he wants our work to be back to where it was. Then saturday he called me again to talk about possible companions, one of which was anziano Urry, my old MTC companion. I got really excited when he brought anziano Urry into consideration, because i know he's a good worker and obedient, so i told President that i would love that, and sure enough, Sunday, he confirmed it with me that we would again be serving as companins, but this time, it would be in the field. On Monday me and Anziano Gibson, went to Rome again to frop him up and sister kelly did one of the nicest things anyone has done to me in the mission so far, it was awesome! we got to their house and she said, Anziano Lane, I made us dinner in your honor, swedish meatballs! (from the ikea) she also got some cinnamon rolls from the ikea too. It was so good. Then Tuesday morning, me and Anziano Gibson went with the Assistants to Battipaglia to pick up anziano Urry, and on the way, we stopped by my favorite city on the earth, Napoli (Naples). Home of the worlds first pizza and the best pizza in the world, and actually, we went to eat at the worlds best pizza place or its number 2, im not too sure. Wow it was good, i dont want to get you all us, so, i'll stop there, then we went to Battipaglia to get my comp and we then had to go to Caserta to the station, and there me and anz Urry took the train to my love, Foggia. We have noo work, but by my next email, things will be different. Its been tough, as a leader my numbers need to be near the top in the mission, and lately they've been very very bad, so, we'll get working and the transfer will be over in 3 weeks, so, President will then tell us if he wants us together another one of what. But, i'm stoked to serve with anziano Urry again, and it was really cool teaching with him yesterday, and contacting some people, and im not going to be prideful, but, we have improved, and it was funny to look back t the MTC and how little we actually knew, and now we're better with the langauge and with a lot of things. Well, thats it, ciao ciao

Last Wednesday was a cool day, like i said last week, we went up to Rome and we checked the knee of my companion at the doctor. then the next day he went back to get an MRI, and the results were negative, and they didnt see anything wrong, then i had the zone leder council that day and it was so much fun, i had an interview and we basically spoke about anziano gibson and what i thought we should do about it. Then for the conference, we talked about some things that we need to get going around the mision and also what we should talk about at our zone conferences. We had reallygood food too. Sister Kelly made us lunch that day, then dinner and the next day she made really good breakfast. On Friday, President Kelly told us when we would do our zone conferences, ours in Bari would be first, (4 days after the ZL council) so my italian ZL companion was flipping out, it was funny, he thought it was way to quick, but it was alright. So the next few days, i thought a bounch about what i wanted to teach at Zone conference, and because my companion couldnt leave the house, i had a lot of time to think, and i thought about a ton of stuff, but the spirit didn't confirm anything that i wanted, finally, i got something and i confirmed it with anziano Errante (my companion) then i called Anziano Packer one of the ZLs for the Taranto zone, and he took my idea, so, i had to get a new one, and it didnt come, so on Monday, the day before Zone Conference, i met with Anziano Errante and we spoke for a few hours on what we would want to share with the missionaries, and we got something... anyways, the zone conference went really well and it was a lot of fun. I dont have a lot of time to go over everything, so, i'll move onto the work.

Its bad. It just stinks because we cant get out and do work becuase my companion cant leave the house, but, i just want to do work, but we've basically been stuck in the house for like 2 weeks. We got some bad news this week, on saturday, Caterina called us and she said the her daughter doesnt want to be baptized or understand what we teach. The same day, Pina called and said that she doesnt want to hear from us again... really bad, and it hurt, but, i realized that i did all that i could and i cant take away her free agency. These past 2 weeks my weekly nubmers have been worse than any other week that i've had in my mission, and now we just need to work from the bottom and find some investigators. My companion is probably going to rome this week to stay in the office and we'll see what happens after that. With me, i dont know, iìll probably go serve in Bari for a month until transfers.

Thats about all i've got, its super hot in Foggia and extreemly humid, but, its all good,

love you guys,
Anziano Lane

July 6, 2011,

Dear Brother and Sister Lane,

We are pleased to inform you that your son has been called to serve as a Zone Leader in the Italy Rome Mission. He will have the responsibility to preside over two or more districts in one of our zones here in the mission. He will be responsible for his zone both spiritually and temporally. He will teach them once a month in a combined district meeting and will help with the planning and training at Zone Conference. He will go on exchanges with all of the missionaries in his zone to help them with teaching or language skills. He will also serve as a member of the Zone Leader Council which helps direct and plan initiatives for the entire mission.

We love your son and are excited for the opportunity to work closely with him. He is an outstanding missionary.

With best regards,

Thomas E. Kelly
President

Dear Brother and Sister Lane

Your missionary has recently been assigned to be a “New Missionary Trainer”. In this assignment he will be the companion of a newly arrived missionary. This is a very important responsibility. Trainers have a profound and lasting influence on the development of a new missionary’s attitude and habits.

I am confident that Elder Lane will do an excellent job in this new assignment.

Sister Kelly and I thank you for your faith and prayers on behalf of our mission and for all you have done to prepare such an outstanding missionary.

Sincerely,

Thomas E. Kelly
President

Dear Brother and Sister Lane,

Thank you for your email. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Elder Lane's uncle. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

I appreciate you making me aware of this very hard situation that your son is dealing with. I will give him a call today during his lunch hour.

Elder Lane is truly an outstanding missionary -- one of our very best. We are so grateful to have him here in the Italy Rome Mission. We love him and you can be very proud of the service he is rendering here.

Sincerely,

Tom Kelly
President

December 22, 2010

Dear Parents,

As you are aware, missionaries may have a phone call with their families for Christmas. This call can take place on Christmas Day, or on another day close to Christmas if that works better for you.

By now, your missionary should have already arranged with you the details regarding his or her Christmas call. If not, you should be receiving those details from your missionary by email sometime later today.

If you have not received the information you need by the end of the day today (Wed. December 22), please send us a reply by email and we will follow-up with your missionary to make sure you receive the information you need.

We love serving with your wonderful sons and daughters. Thank you for sharing them with us.

We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

hey mom, i just sent you and the fam another longer letter that you can read. I included the memory card from my camera, so you can do what you want with the pictures. you can just send the memory card to italy whenever you feel like it, i have 2 others so i dont really need it right now, so take your time, there arent many pictures, i just wanted to start on a new card when i get out in the field. Well, thanks for the letters, its really nice to hear how things are going for you all, i just went through the temple for the last time in 2 years, so it was nice to go in there and make a promise to the Lord before i get out in the field. I feel good, and ready, im really excited to get out to the field in italia, im really anxious to know where my first area is. Okay, well, hope you and dad had a great anniversary at the ritz and it sounds like everyone is doing well. The next time you'll hear from me will be in the airport on tuesday. Have a good one mom, Love you,

hey mom, just wanted to thank you for the letters and the pictures, it was really cool to see leo and you all. Marcus told me that he's having a good time in sweden, morfar is probably wondering when he's going to get rid of us, im joking, jag skoja! but i know he's going to do well in his schooling. I only have 2 weeks left, its crazy, i feel like i know a lot of italain, but i know when i get to italy its not going seem that way. Im really excited though, i was told that when i get to italy, i get to go to the temple site an make some covenants and promises to the Lord for my mission. Im really excited for that, i think its the greatest thing ever that the people of italy will have the wonderful blessing of a temple. Connor has the same meal times as me, so i see him all the time. The mission presidents of Rome, their son left the MTC yesterday to Argentina, he's a cool elder, he has a good attitude and he says i'll like his parents. Well, my time i9s just about up for today, i sent you a letter today about an icredibly spiritual experience i had this week, so be prepared, you should get it on friday i think. Well, gotta go mom, Love you, thanks fior all you sent me! I really appreciate all of it.

Love you,
Anziano Lane

Thanks for the adresses too. Do you think you could send them as a dearelder too? The only reason is i have to go online to look at my emails and i can only do that on p-days. dont worry about it if you didnt save them, its not a big dead. Well, i hope your doing great. I'm sending a longer letter home later today. Well, love you and be strong, God's always there for you. Im sure its a little tough with marcus gone, but, at least you have anika dallin and emily. Gods always there, marcuse will be okay. Love you mom, gotta go

Its great you're having such a great time in sweden, i really loved it there. This past week has been really great, i only have 6 weeks left until i get to spread the world in the beautiful country of italy. I just want to share a few things with you really quick. This past week i embroidered my italian scriptures and my little italian hymn book. I also saw the previous mission pres of rome yesterday, he just got back from italy, he said im in for a good one, italy is blossoming like a rose as far as baptisms. Yesterday i had a great teeaching in italian to an italain woman, basically me and my companions were supposed to teach her the plan of salvation in english, we're not supposed to teach in italian for 3 more weeks, but she couldnt speak english, so we did it in italain, mom, the spirit is incredible, i said things in italain i didnt know i could, but thats basically it. Also, the italian missionaries that got here before us left this morning, abnd yestrerday they left us all tehy're food they couldnt bring, so it was a good night for us. Im going to the temple today with my dfistrict and im really excited ab out that. I saw craig come in on wednesday, and i ate lubnch with him, it was great to finally see someone i knew. I guess connor is coming in in 3 weeks. Then one more thing... If you caould send me dearelder letters instead of emails that would be great. The reason being i only get 30 minutes to email and it includes reading the letters you and mom send me, so i get rushed when i write on p-day. You can send short emails if you want, but dear elder works just as good i think and i dont waste any email time. Well, i gotta do laundry, i'll write you back later today probly around 3pm. I wont write you an actual lettrer today bewcause i dont think it will get there by the time you leave to go back home, well, love you mom, ha det bra.

hey mom, the dear elder works fine, so if you want to write me with that it works out fine. Thank yoiu so much for all the stuff you gave me, i love it all, the candy is awesome. Please dont send anymore though, i have plenty to get me through the MTC. You're awesome, tell everyone i love them, I'm learning the language and i can honestly say the Lord is blessing me with the gift of tounges. I also sent you a letter today and the kids a seperate letter, you can share them though. I put some pics in there too with my district so you can see everyone that i learn italian with. I'm doing good though here in the mtc, Satan was working really hard on me the first few days when i was here to try to get me to go home, but i, with the help of the Lord, was able to get over that fear. I gotta go though, i love you so much and the kids, love you anika! Love you Emily! love you dallin! have a good week, and expect some letters in the next few weeks. (you can dearelder me whenever, i just cant write back untill tuesdays) mom good news, when i get to the airport on the 7th of september to go to italy, i get to call you and dad, so im excited about that, gotta go, LOVE YOU ALL,

Alright, so, im back in Rome, this place is incredible, i would love to serve up here one day, but, basically, Im up here for 2 reasons, the first is we have a zone leader council on thursday, with president, im not sure exactly what we're going to be doing, its my first one. But, we're also here for Anziano Gibson. He had a bad knee coming into the mission and these past few weeks its been really bugging him, so we came up to Rome today to meet with a doctor and he told us we need to get an MRI of the knee. So, i fixed an appointment for tomorrow and we'll see whats up. I hope its not bad so my companion can stay out on the mission, but, we'll see, it doesnt look good though right now.

This past week was really good. We met with Caterina and her daughter and her daughter just moved back in with Caterina because she broke up with her boyfriend, so, i was super happy that we could start teaching her again, so we taught them on Monday and we set a baptisimal date with her, and as we did that, Caterina started crying, and it was one of the coolest things to see. Caterina felt the spirit so much and she was so happy that now her daughter would be baptized just like she was a few months ago. it was just a great experience for all of us. I'm stoked for her.

other than that, our week was really really slow, we were in the house most of teh day becasue of my companions knee, so , we did a lot of area book. But, what can we do about it, i just hope we get the problem solved quick so we can get Foggia up and running again.

Thats about it for this week. Love you guys,
Anziano Lane
