alrighty, i had a pretty good week, and i just want to share a quick experiece about what happened about one of our investigators that really has changed my life...
Okay, this Lady, Caterina, the girlfriend of a 20 year less active guy, has been a great investigator since my first week in Foggia. Well, she agreed to baptism and this week on Saturday we had an appointment with her in Manfredonia, where she lives. Well, we met with them and we had a great lesson and we talked about the sacrament a little bit and the majority of it was on the plan of Salvation. Anyways, we set a baptismal date with her at the end of the appointment and she accepted the 19th of Febuary. So, we were really excited. then at about 2:00, we started our fast and our bishop called us and asked if we could call all of the active members and ask them if they could do a special fast for missionary work and for this lady Caterina specifically, so we did. Then, the next morning, we got to church at 8:45 to get ready and bishop Paoletti took us into his office and gave us some horrible news, about this lady, Caterina. Apparantly after we left the appointment with her on Saturday, Satan got to her big time, and on the mission, Satan really tries to get in the way, and he does a really good job of it. So, bishop told us that Caterina called him yesterday and said that she doesnt understand why we have bread and water instead of bread and wine and a few other things. Ultimately, he told us that he beleived that Caterina was not going to get involved any further with the church, hence, no baptism. He also said that Satan has a great power in Foggia, and he's really done an incredibly well in the past with Padre Pio and even with the church, our church... Needless to say, i was bumbed right out of my mind and for one, i couldnt beleive that he was already saying that she was never going to come back. But, there was nothing that we could do, just pray, and during church, thats what i did and i kept thinking to myself that we had the entire ward (about 50 members) fasting for this lady and how powerful a fast really could be, and that God really does answer prayers, but, sacrament started, and they still hadnt shown up. (we were also expecting 4 other investigators to come, so we were really upset) Then at about 11:25, 3 of the 4 investigators who we were expecting, showed up and sat next to us, then at about 11:30, a miracle happened... a miracle.. Luca came walking into sacrament meeting, and following him was Caterina, I cannot begin to tell anyone how i was feeling, so, i got up and bore my testimony about fasting and the bishop followed me and gave an incredibkle testimony. After the meeting, we went up to Luca and Caternia and i said a few words to her, i dont even remember what i said, but, she started crying and she felt like she was in the right place. She went to talk to bishop and said some things to him and after, he told us what she said. She said that she want planning on coming to church this morning, but something, someone told her that she needed to come....
Myself personally, i've not really ever had a great strong testimony on fasting, i have just dont it becuase God has asked me to, but on Sunday, that really changed. I saw a miracle, and God truly made himself manifest in my life.
Also, another quick experience, that guy who has been studying the church for 2 years, we saw him the other day and he's incredible!!! he knows everything and he wants to be baptized and start a branch in his city, Bonzi. My testimony has strengthened with this guy as well, that God is prepering his children here in Italy and all over the world, there are people here who are ready. Any unfortunately, he lives about 2 hours away, and he doesnt have a car, only his dad does, he's 26 years old, and he cant get to church, or at least until he finished school, which would be in June or July, but, we'll see what we can do.
well, talk about one of the greatest weeks of my life.
Today, im in Bari, hanging out with my district, we're gunna go check out some sites and the go ball it up, unfortunately we're going to play easy becuase we have sisters. but, it should be okay, we're in 8, the Bitonto missionaries couldnt make it. Well, have it good, i love you so much, Anziano Lane
